Yes, that's about where I'd put it. I'd put SMilE a bit lower, it's not the exalted masterpiece it's cracked up to be.

I would definitely find a place in the 10 for Carl & The Passions.

Take out Love You and replace with CATP or All Summer Long.

Come on - it's not very good at all and I think you must know that.
I believe you only nominated it to be provocative.
(Not that there's anything wrong with that; I'm just calling your bluff!)

Perhaps it's made redundant now, but I certainly played the heck out of it back then. It has its place in history, and I've kept mine.

I'm a long time fan of the album. It has a weary feel, but also a very warm and soulful one. The sound of a band giving it their all. They sound wise and sad.
The only weak track is the cod gospel of 'He Come Down'. 'All This is That' is one of their most tranquil, beatific statements and 'Make It Good' is heartbreaking. It will never get mainstream acceptance because it hasn't got Brian Wilson all over it, but for those in the know it is special.

I still prefer the perfect version of Smile that's in my head, which I still intend on creating someday, but that box is absolutely phenomenal. There's more great ideas contained in it than just about any rock album -- verging on Wagnerian territory!

Fair enough then.
