We are once again back with our now regular “What’s New” blogs for SAP solutions for Three Lines (i.e. SAP Process Control, SAP Risk Management, SAP Audit Management and SAP Business Integrity Screening). As is now an old habit, Marie-Luise Wagener-Kirchner and Paul Petraschk from SAP GRC Product Management have shared their inputs and you will be able to discover below the new features delivered over these last few months.

This blog is only a short summary of selected enhancements delivered. But you will be able to find more details by following the links are mentioned at the end of this post.

Analytics for Audit Management

Getting to the relevant information quickly is what is important for most users. And auditors are not exempt from this finding – no pun intended!

With 13 analytical charts, the re-designed Audit Management Overview app together with the three new SAP Fiori apps: Analyze Audit Engagements, Analyze Findings, Analyze Action Plans, provide a powerful data visualization and analysis tool to help audit teams track their key metrics and gain insights into the internal auditing activities across the organization.

Furthermore, these screens are not only information display, they provide direct access to the underlying data with the click on a mouse.

Some examples of the analytical cards delivered include:

  • Audits by phase, by audit lead or audit manager, by attribute (status, type, group), by country or region
  • Audits with reports issues in the last 2 years
  • Overdue or upcoming audits
  • Open findings
  • Escalated or overdue action plans
  • … and more!

These visualizations help streamline the analysis, but also empower users with deeper insights into data for audit, finding, and action plan including visual representation and breakdowns.

But wait, there’s more!

By default, the Audit Management Overview screen shows all the cards. That being said, users can personalize their overview page very easily and hide the cards they don't need.

From the “Manage Cards” option – the three dots at the top of all cards, they can simply use the toggles to hide/unhide cards. It’s that simple!

And, with the dimensions and filters, they can of course change the display, or the scope as they see fit.

In addition, SAP delivers out of the box “views” – in essence sets of predefined filtering criteria – but users can define their own filters and save them as custom views. These new views are then added to the list of standard delivered ones, and are applied as soon as they are selected. They can also be used as a default display if the user chooses.

Business Impact Analysis

Supporting Business Continuity Management requirements with planning, strategy definition, documentation, business impact analysis, as well as business continuity and disaster recovery plans has been a request from our SAP Risk Management customers for quite some time.

And you may recall that I advocated for the inclusion of Business Continuity Management within Three Lines for a long time (cf. for instance GRC Tuesdays: Is Business Continuity a Separate Activity?).

Well, I am very glad to announce that the first steps in this direction have been taken, and that SAP GRC Product Management and Engineering colleagues have released the first building block with the Business Impact Analysis capability in SAP Risk Management.

This module introduces a new option to classify an activity (or subprocess) as “Critical”. Subsequently, business continuity metrics can be maintained: Recovery Time Objective, Recovery Objective Point, and Criticality Level. From there, a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) survey can be run to collect inputs from expert stakeholders.

This new capability also comes with a Business Impact Analysis list report, and a dedicated response type.

This will help companies increase resilience by providing additional insights on operational risk and business continuity requirements.
