If you’re signed up for the WIC (women, infants, and children) program in Texas, you probably know that you can use your WIC card for specific food items every month. Keeping track of the items you have left can help you plan your meals and your next shopping trip, so it’s important to know how to do it. Fortunately, Texas has made it super easy to check your benefits online, over the phone, or in person.

Method 1

Method 1 of 2:

  1. 1

Log onto connectebt.com to check your benefits online. WIC has their own website where you can enter your state and login information to quickly check your balance. When you first visit the site, you’ll need to create a new user ID and password. After that, you can use this site to log in anytime you need to check your benefits.[1]

  2. 2

Head to mytexaswic.org to quickly check your benefits. This is the Texas-specific WIC portal that also supports the mobile app. You can head to this website and enter in your WIC card number, your date of birth, and your password. If you don’t have an account yet, you can create one on the site instead of logging in. Then, navigate to “My Benefits” to check out your monthly food list.[2]

Download the myTexasWIC mobile app to check benefits on the go. Search for the app on the App Store or the Google Play Store. Enter in your user ID and your password to sign in and access your benefits. In the menu, select “My Benefits” to see the food items you have left.[3]

    • If you don’t have a user ID already, you can create one by selecting “New User.”
  4. 4

Call the Texas WIC office at 1-800-942-3678 if you can’t access the internet. You can call WIC customer service for Texas by dialing this number. A representative can help you figure out the best way to access your benefits, and they can also assist you with other things, like getting a new WIC card if you lost yours.

    • If you’re calling from out of state, dial 877-341-4491 instead.

Check your last receipt if you still have it. Your WIC benefits will always be printed on the bottom of your last grocery receipt. Officials recommend saving all your receipts for the month, just so you can look back on them and double check how much food you have left to buy.[4]

  2. 2

Scan your WIC card at the grocery store if you’re already there. If you don’t have your last receipt, you can ask a grocery store worker to print you a new one. Before you start shopping, scan your WIC card at a kiosk and ask them to print you a receipt. Then, you’ll have a list of food items that you’re still able to purchase with your card.[5]

    • You can do this at any time if you just want a new record of your benefits.
  3. 3

Get a new receipt from your local WIC office if it’s close by. If you can’t head to the grocery store, you can visit your local WIC office to see your balance. You can go to the same one you’ve been visiting every few months, or you can find one that’s closer to you.[6]
