Dust makes the list of board games like Risk because it is another great pure wargame that comes down to how you utilize you troops. This kind of takes the Risk you love and brings it into a more futuristic time, but the core strategic pillars are there.
You must seize power sources and capitals, develop your infrastructure, and build and wield vast, high-tech armies in your bid for global domination. It seems like Earth but the unending war and the new technologies have altered the political face of our planet beyond all recognition. There are more pieces to a turn like playing a card to show plan, develop infrastructure AND do combat, but the spirit is the same as Risk. For 2 – 6 players, games go for 1 – 3 hours.

#02 | Axis and Allies
Axis and Allies makes the list of games like Risk because is a glorious dice driven combat game in the same vein. You are using similar technological advances to take on your enemies and control real world spaces. The only major difference is that instead of the one generic unit in Risk, you can diversify into other units here that play different roles.
This classic represent the different nations of the WW2 regimes of the same name. The Axis has Germany and Japan, and the Allies has the USA, the United Kingdom, and the USSR. This is all about world domination just like in Risk, but you have many more military options. Players have at their disposal infantry, armor, fighters, bombers, battleships, aircraft carriers, submarines, troop transports, anti-air guns, and factories. For 2 – 5 players, games last about 3 hours.

#01 | Supremacy
Supremacy take the top spot on the list of board games like Risk because you are working with the same territory map with the same objectives, there just happens to be some slightly different game mechanics. If you are looking for the evolution of Risk, this is about as close as you are going to come.
Supremacy pits conventional superpowers against one another for control of the earth. It is just like Risk only with an integrated supply/demand economic system. Warfare comes in all forms from conventional, biological, chemical and all the way to nuclear. There are also nuclear mushroom cloud pieces to add to the board when a nuke goes off. For 2 – 6 players, games last approximately 340 minutes.
